The purpose of physical processing is to remove plastic, rubber, and any light material from the tantalum capacitors. The wet ball mill breaks the plastics free from the plastic, the elutriation column pushes the freed plastic up and away from the tantalum scrap. The magnetic separator removes any iron that is broken free of the tantalum. The screen removes the water from the plastic. The water is returned for reuse. The cleaned tantalum scrap is sent for chemical cleaning.
